Opened in April, "The Boat" is Beijing's only nightclub on water. Previously an Italian restaurant, the place was completely renovated and could become a regular nightlife rendezvous with the return of warm weather.
Helen Feng is a 29 year-old American national born in China who has been living in Beijing for the last 6 years. Currently DJ for 88.7 Hit FM, Feng is also the lead singer of "Pet conspiracy", an electro-clash band, and "Ziyo", a rock-band. The latter has released their first EP (Extended Play) in January which is distributed by Warner in Beijing and other Chinese cities.
Beijing offers an interesting electronic music scene. At the age of twenty four, Wang Liang, aka DJ Wordy, has already won the DMC (DJ Mixing Championship) award of China three times.
In Beijing, like much of the rest of the world, Halloween is celebrated on October 31st. Like many foreign holidays, it's a good opportunity for foreigners to have fun and for the Chinese to join in.
The connoisseurs admit it: Beijing lacks a real jazz scene. However, if you look carefully, some gems can be found.
Having opened in September 2006, La Baie des Anges is a wine bar in Houhai, owned by two brothers from Nice.
Once known as the quiet side of the street, the south side of Sanlitun street has recently exploded onto the expat bar scene.
